Graphic novels are like chocolate to my kids \u2014 tasty treats they can\u2019t get enough of. My oldest daughter read Rapunzel\u2019s Revenge<\/em> more times than she read Harry Potter<\/em> (five), and my youngest daughter has the family record for readings of Sisters<\/em> (four). Neither girl can let a graphic novel linger in our house without sampling it immediately, sometimes to the point of rudeness. (Weren\u2019t we eating dinner?)<\/p>\n

As a parent, you\u2019ll be glad to know that unlike the stereotypical female characters in the comic books of our youth, the selection and depth of today\u2019s graphic novels is sublime and includes strong female characters worthy of admiration.<\/p>\n
